Acne treatment-prevention-with a holistic approach-Lifestyle

Those pimples, in most cases, which were not caused by cosmetics or other external sources, cannot be fixed solely with cosmetics, as this will certainly not bring about lasting change.

If we treat our facial skin as a separate entity and ignore its connection with our lifestyle, emotional, and mental state, we will not be able to achieve lasting and real change in addressing any problem, including pimples and other skin issues.

But for now, let's focus on pimples and first look at the factors that can influence their formation, and then, based on these, the possible solutions.

In terms of pimples, one of the main triggering factors can be lifestyle, particularly diet, as well as stress and hormonal changes, which are also interconnected. Poor sleep, lymphatic flow, and Qi stagnation, along with other factors, can also influence the formation of pimples. Additionally, it may happen that our skin reacts poorly to a cosmetic product or that we used it incorrectly.

It is important to mention that in every case, treatment with cosmetics is also necessary.

However, it is always worth examining what the triggering factors might be on an individual basis and addressing those primarily, as it is essential to restore the triggering factor. Until this is done, we are merely providing symptomatic treatment, and the pimples will reappear.

Perhaps the most important keyword is a healthy gut flora and digestive system for healthy skin.

We can easily damage our digestive system as there are many processed foods on the market, and unfortunately, this has led to eating habits that do not support our health or the health of our skin. These habits are unnecessary because they usually lack real nutrients and are instead very harmful.

As much as possible, avoid processed, sugar-laden, and packed with preservatives, coloring agents, and all sorts of additives foods and drinks. Instead, try to buy fresh, nutrient-rich, varied, real, and high-quality ingredients. Read ingredient lists when shopping and add more diverse greens and fruits to your basket.

Our body is intelligent, and if you provide it with the right quantity and quality of nutrients, it will not often crave unhealthy things.

Then there are dairy products, which not everyone can tolerate, so it’s worth paying attention to the ingredients of alternative milks as well. However, this is entirely individual. Obviously, various sensitivities can also trigger such reactions, but this is another topic that requires more serious investigation.

Then there’s good old stress, which also greatly influences the formation of pimples, so it’s worth finding methods that help manage stress. Obviously, not just because of pimples, but this is not within my expertise. However, there are plenty of methods to consider for stress management, which could potentially contribute to dealing with pimples as well.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Qi stagnation can also cause inflammation in the body, which can then lead to pimples. You can read a bit more about Qi in my Gua Sha Guide to learn exactly what it is, how it works, and its role in our health and skin condition.

In addition to everyday meals, whether as a preventive measure or specifically to help with problem management, you can also use various anti-inflammatory herbs, spices, and foods. These include ginger-turmeric, garlic, green tea, peppermint/spearmint tea, lemon balm tea, apple cider vinegar, etc.
